Bradford Cox is known as the most unstable man in indie rock, basically being a dark bro who makes Ariel Pink seem like a mainstream dude who works for State Farm Insurance. In the past, we have heard BCox recite dark stories abt ppl dying, question his own sexuality
, and do other meltdowny things, hating himself, and his status as an indie rock legend.
Anyways, he had some show, and played "My Sharona" for an hour. He tried to make it seem like it was 'performance art', but it was clearly a meltdown bc he hates himself, his band, and how he is stuck being a part of the Corrupt Indie Machine.

The show seemed to be nearing its end, but an audience member who shouted a request for “My Sharona” caught Bradford's ear. It initially seemed like a joke: Bradford strummed out the song's bassline and set it to a loop, declaring, “I am a performance artist! I must play what you want to hear.” Then, after getting behind the drum kit to pound out the rhythm and sing a few bars, he called the two opening groups, Frankie Broyles and Carnivores, to the stage, turning the song into a pulsating noise jam.

The audience member who originally requested the song was called out and brought onstage. Bradford demanded that the man strip down to his underwear. What initially seemed playful quickly became tense, as Bradford showed no sign that he was joking. Happy to play along, the man removed a few layers of clothing before briefly picking up an acoustic guitar, an action which landed him back in the audience.

Bradford Cox often talks about how 'every1 in indie rock is a pussie.' He claims 'something is missing' compared to the legends of old.
What's missing?

Queerness. Homo-eroticism, boyhood.

In the Eighties, there were a fair number of, if not out, but queer artists who actually became rock stars. But it's very hard to come up with many people in the past decade or so who fit that niche.

I'll raise my hand.

My goal in life is to have people like my music so they can have it be the soundtrack of their lives and times. I want to be a part of a lot of people's lives by having them listen to my music. I don't care if they download it. It hurts me financially, but I also would be the last person to complain. I have a comfortable life, even though I still live in a fucking ghetto house in squalor.

Yes! I definitely don’t want my personality to overshadow the music. I’ve never wanted that. That’s why I call my solo work Atlas Sound, because I don’t want to be Bradford Cox all the time. Oh, God! I hate it when people talk in the third person! But, for the sake of the conversation, I’m executing that usage. Sorry!

хипстер ранофф издевались над ним просто как могли в течение трех лет, наверное они ему посвятили статей больше всех (за исключением unchill azn bro конечно) но это было все любя, очень мило местами и смешно

Hear Atlas Sound's Bradford Cox discuss the dark origin of the song "Flagstaff" off new album "Parallax" on Sirius XMU.
Let's recap... He talks abt:
seeing his friend getting decapitated riding a 4-wheeler and the victim's mom trying to put his head back on
being in the hospital next to a 4 year old girl dying from e coli from a water park
Seeing a minivan go off the side of the road, and a woman's body opened and tiny lil pieces of food all over the ground
Having a crush on a homecoming queen and stealing her pencils to sniff them
Other dark adolescent moments
He hates every1 and only writes music for himself
Darkness McDarkDark

List of things that Bradford Cox hates
indie
the modern indie machine
music festivals
being an indie celebno1
caring about any1 else in Deerhunter other than himself
drugs and alcohol
every1
everything'
music'
himself
u
me
every1 we know

и несмотря на все, у него куча друзей которые его обожают и согласны делать вместе с ним все, что ему придет в голову. а после этих слов я поняла, что такие люди, как он это reason why i'm still alive:

You don't need a reason for everything. Everybody has so many ambitions for everything, like, maybe if I design these flyers for my friends, somebody will give me a job as a designer! I'm not that kind of guy. When I was that age I wasn't the person who was going to move to New York to try and "make it." Fuck making it. I wanted to deliver Chinese food and get enough money to buy a bag of weed every week. I'm still sort of that way, except I don't smoke weed anymore.
